In October 2023, Father Vasyl arrived in the United States with his wife Maria (née Brovdiy) and their daughter Marichka to begin ministry in the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Passaic. Since December 2023, he has faithfully served as Parochial Vicar of St. Nicholas and St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Parishes in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
Fr. Vasyl Remitskyi was born on December 3, 1984, in the village of Onok, Ukraine. He is the son of Mykhailo Remitskyi and Iryna Remitska (née Sich). Raised in a devout Christian family, he grew up surrounded by prayer and the rich traditions of the Byzantine Catholic Church. Among the strongest influences on his spiritual formation was his grandmother, Yuliia Sich (née Svishcho), whose deep and simple faith helped shape his vocation from early childhood.
He received his primary and secondary education in Onok and later attended the Mukachevo Technical Institute, where he studied Electricity Supply before discerning a call to the priesthood. Following this call, he enrolled in the Greek Catholic Theological Academy of Blessed Bishop-Martyr Theodore Romzha in Uzhgorod, completing his theological studies in 2008.
Father Vasyl was ordained to the Priesthood on December 8, 2007.
For sixteen years he served in the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy, ministering in the parishes of Svaliava, Pidpolozzia, Zhdeniievo, Yalove, Holubyne, Suskovo, and Kolchyno–Shelestovo. From 2021 to 2023, he was also a Member of the Presbyteral Council of the Mukachevo Eparchy, assisting in the pastoral and administrative life of the local Church.
Alongside his parish ministry, Father Vasyl is currently completing Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) to strengthen his skills in pastoral care, spiritual accompaniment, and ministry to the sick and suffering.
He continues to serve the faithful with warmth, humility, and a sincere dedication to the Gospel.
